"I dont care whether people liked him, or hated him. Owen was one of the greatest athletes alive in pro wrestling. He could sell, job, win, and perform great. He died entertaining the fans. He died to put on a show, and give the fans our moneys worth. He was a great. we'll miss him....."
Those were my words the night Owen died. i sent this to my rob Van dam group earlier. Words can't explain this event. This is something that has effected everyone I know, even non-wrestling fans. they look at it as "The dead wrestler". but it proved a point to them, that wrestling is jsut as dangerous as any other sport.
But did this really need to happen? this all happened because of a new gimmick (a gimmick which I loved). This new gimmick was a blast from the past, in more ways than one. Owen was dressing as a former gimmick of his, the Blazer when he died. and he was using the old hulk hoganlines about prayers, vitamins and so on.
Part of this gimmick was being a superhero-like personna. And well, every great superhero can fly. SO, as he did before numerous times with the Blue Blazer, he was to fly. and fly he did, into all our HARTS for years to come.
Owen Hart died at the age of 24. his birthday being May 7th, he had jsut celebrated his birthday. Owen was a great family-man, a prankster, but most importantly, a family man. Owen died doing a stunt, a flying stunt. He fell 50 ft and hit his head on the turnbuckle.
So please remember this great man for what he was inside, not what his gimmicks were. I send my love to the Hart family, and to Mr Vinnie Mac, and other wrestling promoters, don't risk your performers live's for stunts...Someone loves them
